Foreword
The natural objective of this site is of course to promote its
author's activities. However, you'll find here much more than a simple advertisement.
This site is intended to be a guide helping you choosing a translation philosophy,
and also an authentic source of reliable information in matter of translation
technique and technology.
It is dedicated to people looking for a translation service
as well as to translators themselves; they should be able to glean here a few
ideas
It is intended to be dynamic and regularly updated to reflect as
truly and completely as possible modern translation techniques. This is a reason
why all comments and information requests are welcome. They will
be then integrated into next releases of the site.
Presentation
- Yves Georges, who has been working in translation business since 1997 has
created in February 2000 a Web site called "A3t2s.com".
It stands for "AnglaisAméricain Allemand - Traduction
Technique et Scientifique", which means "English American German
- Technical and Scientific Translation". It has been translated by "English
and German into French" because it better describes his main activity seen
from outside France. English and US English languages are considered
as being different because of a number of differences which really distinguish
them. You are presently reading the English version of the site.
- Before turning to freelance translation, Yves Georges used to work
as an engineer in scientific instrumentation companies where he occupied various
positions, all of them implying a strong technical aspect: product support
manager, demo lab/product manager or service manager.
All these jobs imply also important "literary" aspects which are -among
others - technical manual translation review, reporting, external publication
or internal training documentation production...
The last aspect - foreign languages - grew up to a professional level by working
in an international environment (United States, United Kingdom, Germany)
by which supranational responsibilities were assumed and long stays in foreign
countries were involved.
The technical translation activity is a good way to realise a harmonious combination
of these aspects.
